Why is it dangerous for children to use cell phones?
For many Latinos, communication is important. In Florida, they ask themselves the constant question of how to maintain an ideal communication with their relatives, so encouraging their children to maintain constant communication through cell phones among these Latinos and Latinas is common. However, at Latino Gringos™, we ask ourselves if this is a non-detrimental practice for the little ones, or are they just mere speculation that these parents do on the subject of cell phones in children. Let’s take a closer look at this topic.
Control over the cell phone is a part of childcare.
For children, using a cell phone is common nowadays. Latinos and Latinas in Florida know that this is something every day. The little ones are in contact with their distant friends and family permanently, so they will always be using their cell phones. In surveys carried out by Latino Gringos™, it has been possible to determine that three out of four children in the country use cell phones from an early age, so the question easily arises, is it really harmful to them to use it? This is the cause of debates between parents and teachers who may see it as something that, while normal, may have some isolated consequences.
The freedom of boys and girls on their phones is something that without a doubt can be worrying. Latinos and Latinas adore communication and being in the latest fashion with their mobile devices from a young age. However, it could be harmful at some point since it enhances not only the constant use but also an unhealthy dependence on it.
In some cases, it has been verified by Latino Gringos™ that many children spend more than eight hours a day on their cell phones, which would be of concern to any parent in our Latino community in Florida. Although we cannot totally take away their freedom of communication and recreation through cell phones, we can make some changes to their routine so that this does not become constant. It is determined and proven that cell phone addiction in children can be harmful by stimulating behaviors. Such include attention deficit, mood problems, behavior change towards unacceptable behaviors, and even greater problems when interacting through social networks with people of older and possibly bad people.
Supervision of cell phone use is what will take effect when preventing any of these unpleasant situations, and while we cannot entirely say that cell phones are harmful to children, we can certainly say that they adhere to the rule that everything in excessiveness is detrimental at some point, so supervision over the use of this is crucial.
